Beyond the Bean are a Bristol-based supplier of specialist barista equipment. They provide, in their own words, ‘everything but beans and machines’. We visited the HQ in Bedminster to find out more about the company (and drink a gingerbread latte or two…).
Beyond the Bean is a proudly independent business, built from scratch by Jem and Nikki, who started the company from their home office in 1997. Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength, and now exports to 50 countries worldwide. The ethos behind the company remains unchanged however, as the friendly, knowledgeable and experienced team are committed to sourcing and supplying products they would be happy to use themselves.
The team’s passion for the industry is evident from the second you walk in. The headquarters house a large warehouse and a drinks ‘test kitchen’ with an impressive display of their products. All 48 Sweetbird syrups were there to experiment with, including some more unusual flavours such as toasted marshmallow and toffee apple.
Beyond the Bean supply us with everything we need to make our smoothies and frappés, including Sweetbird purées and Zuma frappé powder. We also stock a large range of Sweetbird syrups, all of which are free from artificial preservatives. We’re going to get experimenting – keep a look out for our latest creations!
